Why verification?

In the past, we tried several solutions to reduce the problem of smurfing in matches. Some solutions included: verifying players by SMS, implementing a paywall, Steam hours account requirement, numerous changes to our matchmaking algorithm and many more.

While they helped reduce the problem, they were only partially effective and couldn't stop smurfing and multi-account abuse in your matches. Due to the increasing demand from players to address trust issues directly, we developed a radical solution—a free opt-in ID verification, an unmatched layer of security to build a more trusted community.
